Spring 1
Happy New Year! We hope that you had a good Christmas and are ready for a busy new term
This half term we will be studying life in Ancient Greece. Much of our English work, and some of our History, will be based on a variety of Greek myths: Theseus and the Minotaur, Perseus and Medusa and the Wooden Horse of Troy. After delving intonarratives and playscripts, we will look at argument / discussion texts and answering th vital question: would you rrather be a Spartan or an Atenian? At the same time, we will step up our preparation for this summer’s SATs tests by focusing on spelling, grammar and punctuation – ask your child about Rainbow Writing and Pyramid Spellings!
We are planning to link our Geography into this topic by looking at the physical geography of Greece and how it affected the growth of the ancient city states such as Athens, Sparta and Knossos, whilst our History will attempt to look at as many aspects of life in Ancient Greece as possible. Our Science will look at how to condust an experiment, gather information and draw conclusions from results. We will continue our music sessions with Mr Ecclestone, and our outdoor PE will be netball– please make sure that your child has appropriate clothing!
